About the Event

During this workshop, you will experience breath and movement as threads that weave together five core social emotional competencies and eight student [mathematical] practices to foster affirming, inclusive mindful mathematical learning spaces.

  • When: April 20, 2021 either morning 9 am - 12 pm OR afternoon 3 - 6 pm sessions.
  • Cost: $40 for 3 hour workshop.  Groups of 3 or more from same school $30/per person. Reach out normabgordonmath@gmail.com for scholarship requests.

Burnout,  defined by Herbert Freudenberger (1975) has three components: 1. emotional exhaustion—the fatigue that comes from caring too much, for too long; 2. depersonalization—the depletion of empathy, caring, and compassion; and 3. decreased sense of accomplishment—an unconquerable sense of futility: feeling that nothing you do makes any difference.  Many students and educators deal with varying degress of "learning brunout".  Engage in and explore mindful movement, mathematics, and mapping our mathetmatical practive experience to social emotional competencies. You will leave with tools to alleviate learning burnout and fatigue.
